| | The summer I was about to enter my senior year in high school, I wanted to take up advanced computer class in preparation for my senior year. On my junior year I did that for summer and I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to do so again on my senior year. But alas! My father had a different idea for me and my sister. He said no to computer classes. Instead, he enrolled us in a free dress and patternmaking summer class at TESDA Region 2. Don't get me wrong, I loved dressing up like any high school student. But me? Sew a dress?? You gotta be kidding. As it turned out, my sister was so adept at sewing clothes after that fateful summer. How else could she not be? She started sewing pillows for her pet puppy Daphne when she was only 10. My senior year, she did my dress for (and hers) for our Induction ball (we were both officers for Art Club). It was not surprising at all, that the "ate"---- me, didn't finish my summer project. I couldn't place the collar and sleeves of my blouse...or what should have been a blouse. 14 years later... And almost 5 years after my father's death. Here I am, wanting to learn how to sew. I love bedsheets and curtains! I envy the matching bedspread, curtains, sofa set and pillowcases that my sister did so I wanted to try my hand at sewing. I remember telling my sis about it and she just laughed and I can't really blame her. She said "What makes you think 15 years would make any difference?". *lol* Well, 15 years my posterior! Out of impulse, I enrolled myself in a Sunday dressmaking/patternmaking/tailoring class. My teacher is Ma'am Remy. She used to be a teacher for TESDA. So far I enjoyed my 1st class and I'm on 8AM-12NN schedule. So where did I hear about second chances? This is my second chance. And I hope I can redeem myself belatedly after almost 14 years... |
